Update on the domain situation

Starting on a date yet to be determined, my blog will be located at oftenimitated.com. Currently, I am undergoing the transfer process, so it is impossible to tell exactly, but I would estimate anywhere within the next 10 or so days.

So I’m seriously considering moving this blog to a domain.

The only problem is, which domain?

I already have oftenimitated.com, but I may want to move to a new domain… I don’t know…

But, in order to do so, I need to raise $300…

Bald men watching Nazi movies?

Since this morning, there has been exactly one bald guy in each showing of Valkyrie. It’s kind of weird, because they each have a similar shaped head. It’s possible that it is the same person, but that seems unlikely. Who knows, maybe Valkyrie is just that good.

And if you’re looking for Brandon’s Incredible (Edible?) Movie Review for Valkyrie, then look no further. Here it is, in one powerful word: boring. I have never been so disappointed in a movie (well, I’m sure I have, but for the sake of hyperbole, we shall not argue). None of the characters showed any emotion, ever. At times, I even felt like the director wanted me to feel sorry for Hitler (ok, I made that up, but you get the point).

Even though it was boring, I still give Valkyrie a 6 out of 10, because the main character had an eye patch, which is cool.

And I would give a review for Bedtime Stories, but I’m sure nobody reads my “movie reviews” anyway. Besides, if the crowd at my theater is any indication of what’s worth seeing, it looks as if Valkyrie is for you if you’re looking for a serious WWII Nazi conspiracy movie, Marley and Me is the movie to see if you’re looking for a movie that will make you all wistful and emotional, and Bedtime Stories is the movie to drop your annoying kids in while you go watch Valkyrie.

Sad day for all of us (except that one guy)

There is shortage of girls like this, and now one of them is engaged.

I’m talking about Sidney Collins, who is a member of the small group of female CS majors.

Why can’t there be more female CS majors? Why must the field be predominately populated with males? These kind of questions can drive a cowboy crazy, they can drive a man insane, and he’ll sell of everything he owns, just to pay to play her game…

And if that’s not a good answer enough for you, then I’m sorry? I’m incredibly distracted. You see, I’m trying to watch a terrible Christmas movie and wrap presents for my sisters at the same time… Yes.

Contact Horror Story

So I didn’t even know this was possible, but today… I lost my contact up inside of my eyelid.

Granted, I was extremely panicked, and quickly consulted the first resource I could think of: Google.

Google was very helpful, and even managed to tell me the location of my lost contact lens. It was on top of my eye, seemingly somewhere between my brain and my eyeball. After much effort and pain, I was able to remove said contact lens, but the incident was not without it’s share of foul language.

And that, for those of you who care (why?), is my story. Thanks for reading.

Cuddlefish

I don’t know who/where this same from, but it brought unto me some serious lulz, which I need right now.

It all started with today’s xkcd, which is always good for some laughs:

Which led me to a discussion board, which led me to this: a cuddlefish!

I really, really want one now. Maybe there’s somewhere I can buy one?

I just think that nerdy, awkward puns are the best kinds of gifts (hint, hint).

Besides, cuttlefish are pretty much the coolest animals ever.

Typical complaint about Microsoft and Apple

Currently, I am reformatting the hard drive of my Vista PC, and reinstalling Windows.

I am currently typing this on my MacBook, which I have never had any problems with.

Is it just my luck? No, I don’t think so. I think that Vista sucks just as much XP, which sucked almost as much as ME, which was the cumulative product of all problems from 98 and 95.

Sirs and Madams, I have been dealing with Windows’ problems since before I knew the foul words to describe my attitude towards them.

It’s not that Apple is all that great. There are a multitude of things that I would like to see changed or improved in their products, but when all I have to compare them to is Windows (I’m going to ignore Linux, since it is puny and insigificant in the consumer market), I can no longer find reasons to defend Windows.

And if you were wondering why I haven’t been updating my blog as much as usual, it is because my computer has been so screwed up, I can hardly find the patience. Maybe Apple will save me from my horrible spell of pessimism. Maybe.

Silent self-esteem killer

So remember when I brought up Project Euler as a cool thing to do to solve problems and be smart and stuff?

Well it’s here in case you forgot.

Anyways, after getting through only 20 or so (of 200 or so) I have decided that Project Euler is more of a self-esteem killer than I originally thought.

Never fear, for I shall never concede, I shall only continue (and whine) until I have completed!

Bridge Status: Burnt

Have you ever found yourself in a really sticky situation?

Have you ever found yourself inadvertently burning bridges and having to start over, with a whole new group of people?

Well I have, and it is by no means a pleasant experience.

You see, I did something that wasn’t very smart, and I regret it. But, I didn’t know that it would be such a big deal. So, now that artificial hype has created a situation larger than reality, I am left with a choice: leave my current place of employment, and find a new job, or stick around, and live with humiliation.

The thing is, I really like my job, but I’d almost certainly get paid more (almost) anywhere else.

And no, I will not elaborate, so don’t ask. Everybody who needs to know exactly what happened already knows.
